Talented Senior Class to Lead Postseason Soccer Run

It would be appropriate to claim that the Farmington Knights varsity soccer team has dominated their district this year. After a 3-0 victory over Sikeston in the district semifinals, they grabbed themselves a district title are a 6-1 win against Cape Central after losing in the district championship game the past two years.
The Knights are headlined by an outstanding group of senior leaders. Bryce Sancegraw, an annual all-state soccer player and last season’s Missouri goal leader, has scored 36 goals and accredited 13 assists on the year as well. Cole Gerstenberger, a 6’6” transfer from Perryville, has come in and physically dominated opposing midfields and defenses. He has found the back of the net 22 times, with a solid majority of those goals resulting from headballs in the box off of a corner or throw-in. He also has chipped in with 17 assists. The pseudo point guard for this Knights squad is the lightning-fast Tristan Stotler. Stotler has shared with his teammates, amassing 21 assists while also netting 11 goals of his own.
In the defensive third, Farmington sports a solid three-headed monster in the middle. Seniors Max Reid and Tyler Herzog close the door for many attackers and continue to be a physical force at the centre back and occasionally wing back positions. Behind them in goal is another fourth-year player, Chad Silvey. He displays a 62% save percentage and allows 1.94 goals a game, while his teammates put in an average of 4.47 goals a game. The Knights also utilize a multi-dimensional player in senior Kody Winch, whose thick build and light feet create a tough get-around for the opposition in the midfield.
The Knights are 16-3 on the campaign and will match up with Windsor (14-11-1) in Imperial on Tuesday, November 6 at 6:00. The winner of the match will receive the winner of Webster Groves and Priory, and that game will be played on Saturday, November 10 with time and location yet to be determined.
