Every year the Farmington Highschool theatre guild takes it upon themselves to put weeks and weeks of time in, in order to put on the best show they can. They, of course, put hours into practice, set design, and costumes. Last year’s musical was the Addams Family, but this year is Cinderella.
Theatre, no matter the production, no matter the process, always has one thing that you can always count on, the cast. The cast is the people who act out the play, and mostly considered the major part of the production. The cast includes the protagonist, antagonist, supporting cast, ensemble, and understudy. In Cinderella, the lead role is obviously Cinderella, and this year that role is being taken up by Remy Williams, a senior at Farmington Highschool. Alongside Remy, Kyle Mills will take on the role of The Prince.
“I started theatre the summer before Junior year,” said Williams. “My dad has always wanted me to get into theater, but it wasn’t until I saw professional shows at the Fox that really sparked my interest. Local shows were also something that inspired me, and seeing people that I knew onstage very much contributed to me joining.”
Coming back to the people of the production, of course Remy isn’t the only one in the play. She also has the other members of the cast, set stagers, and sound and lighting people. All the people surrounding the play are one of Remy’s favorite parts.
“The best thing about theatre is the community. I love all of the people that I have met through it, and a lot of them have become some of my best friends. Being able to create something amazing with people that I love brings me so much joy, and the memories that I have made are some that I will never forget.”
Cinderella being the main character of the play is something that Remy has had to get used to. This means a lot to her and it’s something that she takes very seriously.
“Being able to pick up the role of Cinderella is such an honor to me. She is such a humble, complex character; always staying kind in spite of the way that she is treated. Everyone knows Cinderella, and with her being such an iconic figure, I hope to do the role justice. My first main role was in Addams Family, and while it can be daunting, once I step on stage any fear that I have disappears. It’s an indescribable feeling, so while there is always a bit of pre-show anxiety, that fear is always worth it in the end.”
She is looking very forward to taking this role and everything it entails. Remy mentions that she was one of the main characters in Addams Family, a previous show put on by Farmington theatre guild, and her role was widely admired, and this role will surely follow suit.
“Rehearsal started last week, and it is going amazingly! We have had a few music rehearsals before, but now we’ve started blocking and actually running the show.” This small sign of progression points all signs pointing in the right direction.
And then finally, to try and squeeze something out of Remy, so that the musical goers have something to look forward to, the final question was asking if she had anything she could tease.
“I can’t say much right now spoiler wise,” says Williams,BUT I can say that I love my fairy godmother transformation dress and am very excited to show everyone!”
The play will happen on Thursday March 26 through Sunday March 29, 2026 at Truman Auditorium. Come support these amazing talents, and the show they have worked so hard to put on.
