Top 10 Horror Movie Halloween Watch List

October is here and with the turning of the month comes a surplus of spooks and scares for Halloween. Since Halloween is at the end of the month, here is a list of the top 10 new and classic horror movies to watch that will send enough shivers down your spine to get you ready for the scariest time of the year.
10 – The Blair Witch Project
Starting off this list with a cult classic is “The Blair Witch Project”. This found footage film is about is about three film students who travel to a small town to create a documentary about the legend of the Blair Witch, murderer of urban legend in the town. As the students go into the forest to investigate, things go awry as our three protagonists try to survive supernatural occurrences. Recommended for people new to horror movies.
9- Halloween (2018)
A reboot from the 1978 classic, set 40 years after the events of the first movie. Michael Myers is back and ready to wreak havoc. After the killing spree Myers went on 40 years ago, he is put into an institution. But when Michael escapes, Laurie Strode has to fight for her life again against this deranged murderer. The release date for this new horror flick is October 19th. If you watched the first “Halloween”, then this is a must see for you.
8 – Hush
Although there are plenty of horror movies on Netflix that are next to garbage, “Hush” will bring you feelings of fear and dread. A deaf writer who prefers isolation in the country is thrown into a fight for survival as a masked psychopath terrorizes her home. Having to rely on every other sense besides her ability to hear to survive.
7 – A Quiet Place
Even though this movie already came out in April of this year, it should without a doubt be on your watch list this scary season. Directed by John Krasinski, “A Quiet Place” has a unique premise of “If they hear you, they hunt you”. You will be holding your breath as you’re brought into the terrifying world of this scared family.
6 – Hellfest
Fear is subjective and if you’re more afraid of the horrors humans can do rather than ghosts or demons, then “Hellfest” would be a movie for you. Three girls and their boyfriends go to a traveling scare park called Hell Fest. Things turn sour has a masked serial killer turns the park into his hunting grounds. Release date is the 28th of September.
5 – The Exorcist
One of the most well known horror movies of all time, “The Exorcist” is based loosely on actual events. A young girls starts speaking in tongues, levitating, etc. The mother of the girl tries to seek medical help but to no avail when a local priest suggests that she might be possessed by the devil himself. This film has been known to be people’s initiation into horror movies but you definitely don’t want to watch this one by yourself at night.
4 – Annabelle
Like the previous movie on this list, this movie is based loosely on witness accounts and true events. When John Forms buys the porcelain doll “Annabelle”, he thinks that he found the perfect gift for his wife. The good times turn bad though when devil worshipers break into their home and end up causing a violent demon to possess the doll. One of the movies connected to “The Conjuring”, this one will surely give you a phobia of porcelain dolls.
3 – It Follows
After Jay sleeps with her boyfriend for the first time, a romantic experience turns deadly as she discovers that she is now being slowly hunted by death itself. As the demon slowly moves in for her, she realized that this demon can look like anyone. Instead of some suspenseful moments, you’ll be paranoid throughout the film, wondering if any of the people around our protagonist is about to attack. With suspense throughout the movie and jump scares that catch you off guard, “It Follows” will make you paranoid in an eerie way.
2 – The Conjuring
Known as one of the best horror movies in recent years, “The Conjuring” has without a doubt earned its reputation. Married demonologists Lorraine and Ed Warren are called to the Perron home where a sinister supernatural force is growing more bold with tormenting the family. As Lorraine and Ed investigate, things go to a whole level for the experienced demon hunters. Hold your friends close as you watch this terrifying story.
1 – The Nun
Taking number one on this list is “The Nun”. The latest addition to “The Conjuring” series, this recently released horror film is one you don’t want to miss. Set before the other movies in the series, “The Nun” creates a horrifying atmosphere in one of the best horror movies in years. Set in the 1950’s, a nun in training, a priest from the Vatican, and a woodsman try to survive against sinister forces. With more plot twists than you can predict and a terrifying antagonist, this top of the list experience will keep you up at night, wondering how useful that lock on your door really is.
