Here at FHS, there is a new, popular club called The Pickleball Club. It is a great place for beginner players to have fun and learn about the game. They have their open days at Engler Park, they post on their Instagram account what time the game will be played and what the theme of the game is. This club is different from a traditional club, they do not have practices or meetings, they just have open days to play.
Addy Hubbard is one of the public relations officers. As public relations, she runs the club’s Instagram, takes pictures at events, and creates fun content to encourage people to attend their events.
“I also help plan ways to get more students involved and make sure everyone feels welcome in the club.”
Having a public relations officer is a great way for people to find out more about the club if they are interested in joining the club. Not only does Hubbard run the Instagram for the Pickleball Club, but she also runs the class of 2026 Instagram account. So she has a background in social media.
“It brings people together who might not otherwise connect at school. It’s such a fun way to meet new people, get active, and just enjoy time with friends in a laid-back environment.” This is Hubbard’s favorite thing about the club.
Hayden Duncan is one of the coaches for the pickleball club.
“I will help them on the basics if they’re new to pickleball I will teach them how to hit serve and all the roles!” This is Duncan’s job as the coach for the club.
“We may do tournaments or competitions in the future,” Duncan stated. At the moment, the club is not competitive, but in the future, they might have some sort of competition just for fun.
Layna Wade, one of the community outreach officers, has not been playing the game for very long, but once she started to play, she fell in love. As part of the community outreach, her job is to reach out to different communities to get them interested in playing.
“Being in the position of community outreach, it just means that I am in charge of reaching out to places like churches who might be able to host one of our meetings,” Wade stated. “I would just talk to them and let them know all of the details and see if they would be open to letting us host our meeting at their place!”
“I think the biggest way we want to grow the club is by making everyone feel welcome and like the club is just one big family.”, said Wade. “Creating a place where people can come and have fun, and hang out with their friends, and make new friends, and not have to worry about winning or losing, just having fun!”
Last but not least, Garett Callahan is the teacher representative. He was asked to be the teacher representative because he sponsors another club.
As the teacher representative, his job is to “Make sure that students are staying organized and civilized with scheduling and playing pickleball.”
This is a fun club that many people like being a part of. This club even has officers; they have a president, who is Brayden Werner. This vice president is Niyah Hayward. The public relations team is Addy Hubbard and Emma Sigman. The treasurer is Sam White. The coaches are Hayden Duncan and Tyler Dickenson. The referees are Alex Bequette, Clarah Wilkins, and John Klinkarht. The community outreach is Kailee Biri, Kendall Wooten, and Layna Wade. Last but not least, the safety manager is Cayman McIntrye.
If you or someone you know is interested in learning how to play, or just to have fun with a great group of people, make sure to check out their Instagram account when they have open days to play!
