Knights Showcase was an event that the Farmington School District hosted on April 10th from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. The event aimed to showcase the clubs and organizations, highlighting the various clubs and activities the FHS offers. There were activities and other showcases from the clubs present. Knights Showcase had many activities, such as food trucks being present, a music and art show, and “Robot Wars” from Project Lead The Way.
Lindsay Albee is a member of the committee that helped to organize the event.
“Knights Showcase is a special event that highlights the hard work and achievements of our students throughout the year,” Albee stated. “Several high school departments will be present to showcase their classes, along with opportunities to explore various clubs, attend counselor sessions, and learn about international travel programs, just to name a few highlights of the night.”
Knights Showcase is a unique type of showcase that was not previously held by the school district.
“We first started talking about the idea of hosting an event like this back in the Fall, but couldn’t really get it planned out until this Spring,” said Albee.
“Community members can expect an exciting and interactive experience at the Knights Showcase,” according to Albee. The event will highlight student achievements, provide insight into various academic programs, and offer opportunities to explore extracurricular activities. They can expect to see a lot of staff and student involvement throughout the evening.”
Renee Baird, one of the sponsors of FFA, a club that was present, also told about the event.
According to Baird, Knights Showcase will bring “publicity of our department and the opportunities available to students.”
At the event, many events happened. AFJROTC had numerous showcases of what they offer. Coach Eckley of the Football team gave a presentation about the football program. Several food trucks were present. Many classes and programs had presentations around the building. The science program had an interactive presentation, where individuals could create their own “gravity rollercoaster”. Forensics class had a dissection of a baby pig, and the social studies department held a short presentation introducing their teachers. The math department also had a presentation about their Algebra 1 class.
It is unknown if there will be another Knights Showcase.
