This basketball season has a lot of leadership with eight seniors along with five starters returning. Both the coach and players have high expectations for this season. They both have high expectations of themselves to improve from last year. Last year, the boy’s varsity season ended with a record of 21-7. This year they want to win more games and at least two tournaments.
Logan Schaupert is a returning senior who plays center for the basketball team. Schaupert just recently joined the practices because he’s a first-team all-state goalkeeper for soccer. Schaupert says, “Coach is great and he is hard on us and knows we have big aspirations and pushes us all the time in practice to reach those.”
Coach Garrett Callahan is the head coach for varsity boys’ basketball.
Callahan says, “We try to encourage our players to get better each day and point out what they do well.” Callahan feels that this year’s team is unique because of all the experience from the returning players. This season’s biggest strengths are ball handling, shooting, and the defense.
This season’s roster has eight seniors playing, Logan Schaupert, Mason Tucker, Wyatt Scott, Jack Embry, Hayden Wade, Grayson Street, Corey Crawford, and Cannon Roth.
There are three Juniors on the team, Copper Tripp, Austin Knight, and Tatem Tinsley.
In addition, three sophomores are on the team to finish the roster, Jacob Barnes, Ryder Gollaher, and Ethan Schaupert.
Logan Schaupert, Cooper Tripp, Tatem Tinsley, Cannon Roth, Austin Knight, and Ryder Gollaher have all started a game for the Knights this year.
Farmington Knights won the Bank it Championship. They play Cape Central at Cape on the 19th. They play in the Bob Sechrest Jr. Central Christmas Tournament over Christmas break.
