Many students at FHS have attended Eagle Sky Christian Challenge Camp, or simply Eagle Sky. Eagle Sky is located in Wayne County, Missouri, and is a beautiful place where many churches take youth groups and children’s church students to have a fun-filled week at camp.
While Eagle Sky has a mud course, slingshots, wrist rockets, a blob, kayaks, banana boats, tubing, and a ropes course, students get much more from the experience than a fun time. Eagle Sky is where teenagers and kids come together to learn about God.
Eagle Sky has an amazing mission and their employees strive to uphold those values.
The Eagle Sky Foundation’s Mission is to provide a unique retreat environment where everyone is challenged to grow in their faith and relationship with Jesus Christ.
Providing quality facilities where guests can retreat in comfort and security while they focus on expanding their faith and relationship with Jesus Christ;
Utilizing dedicated, talented staff who demonstrate servant leadership and total commitment to Jesus Christ;
Involving guests in challenging Christian Camping Programs which strive for quality and excellence in recreational opportunities, ministry development programs; educational programs, and quality Bible teaching;
Leading guests to engage the beauty of God’s creation, the joy of fellowship, and the challenge of growth in their faith and walk with Jesus Christ.
Meagan Wilson, the Eagle Sky Human Resources Director, states, “My hope is that when a student leaves Eagle Sky they know, without a shadow of a doubt, how much they are loved by God. They could feel His presence while they were here. Yes, everything about Eagle Sky is amazing, but this aspect is the most important.”
Hannah Mathes, a sophomore at FHS, attended Eagle Sky for the first time this summer and felt the love of God.
“I was saved at Eagle Sky, it changed my life by helping me grow in my faith,” Mathes said.
Eagle Sky has a Counselor in Training or C.I.T. Program where 16-17-year-olds can work in the Kid’s Camp and teach them about Jesus. They will spiritually lead campers through encouragement, fun, teaching, and service.
C.I.T Is described as, Counselors in Training will work alongside the Senior Counselors to care for campers’ safety, growth, and well-being. They will spiritually lead campers through encouragement, fun, teaching, and service. CITs will lead their campers in daily Biblical devotions and direct their campers’ schedules. They will seek to make camp memorable and growth-filled through creative and unique experiences. They will be staying in the cabin for the duration of the session.

Peyton Robinson, a junior at FHS, participated in the C.I.T. Program this past summer and he feels that it helped him become a better leader.
“Being a C.I.T. has helped to reveal and sharpen my skills in leadership,” Robinson stated.
Robinson and Wilson agree that the Eagle Sky experience is incomparable to any other camp.
Wilson stated, “Eagle Sky is a place like no other. The facilities are beautiful along with the nature along the property. They have elk and bison as you drive in! The food is amazing and there is even a coffee shop! The chapel services are fun with messages from speakers that all point to Jesus as Lord and Savior. The activities and everything else are amazing. The best part, however, is that you have the opportunity to meet with Jesus distraction-free. You get to slow down from the hustle and bustle and find a peace that is different from what the world can offer. It is unique!”
Robinson added, “It’s an amazing experience that will bring you closer to God and others, it is a great escape from the average day. It’s always fun and rewarding and overall it’s an unbelievable experience.”
Mathes shared her favorite and most impactful experience while at Eagle Sky.
“Worship was amazing,” Mathes said. “While we were worshipping, God put on my heart that I needed to give my life to him.”
Many students have great experiences at Eagle Sky, but they’re not the only ones. Staff members are greatly impacted at Eagle Sky too.
Wilson stated, “As summer staff, I had the amazing opportunity to counsel some kiddos who never heard that someone could ever love them. Throughout the week, they had the opportunity to be kids and through the chapel services, they heard about Jesus! At the end of the week, they finally accepted Jesus as their Lord and Savior!! There were definitely tears shed! As a full-time staffer, my favorite memory has to come from the first year we had our Kids Camp open in 2021. It was a very long and hard road to get this open. Many setbacks and hurdles to jump through. However, we finally did it! During our orientation week, we let our staff come and pray over the new set of cabins. The palpable presence of the Holy Spirit was something I hadn’t experienced. I will never forget that experience!”
Robinson also shared, “As staff sees the kids learn and grow, it is the best, and as a camper one night, I stayed up until four in the morning in a Bible study where there were deep moments and tears shed.”
Overall, Eagle Sky is an amazing place that has a lasting impact on its staff, attendees, and students at FHS. Eagle Sky is loved by many and run by great people. Eagle Sky is a place to separate from the outside world and have alone time with Jesus and faithful people.
