Cooking Club is a new Club coming to Farmington High School run by Ms. Eden, a Foods teacher here at FHS. Held one or two Thursdays every month. This club is a good way for people to get involved with cooking.
“We had a lot of kids that love the cooking experience but we are very limited on what we can do during the class time,” Ms. Eden explained.
Cooking Club will allow students to have time to prep, cook, eat, and clean up without the time restriction of a class. Foods class is an environment where students can pursue their passion for cooking and learn useful skills for later in life when they are on their own. Another benefit of this Club is getting students who don’t have the option to take a Foods class to be involved in the culinary art experience.
Aubrey Nash is a freshman at FHS. She is a Foods student, She is also interested in joining Cooking Club.
“I like having the opportunity to cook and learn more about how to make certain things that I love,” Nash stated. “I also would like one time in Cooking Club to make a meal for Ms. Eden and let her judge everyone’s cooking.”
This isn’t the first Cooking Club that’s been here at FHS. Ms. Eden attempted to start this up two years ago and the issue was that it was too time-consuming after school and clashing with other after-school activities. This Club will do things like making cookies from cake mix, homemade chips and salsa, pasta from scratch, and many more things.
