At Farmington High School we have 4 Christian Clubs consisting of over 150 students. These clubs are, SOS, FCA, Godly Girls Gathering, and Bible Bois. The officers and adult sponsors have worked very hard to improve each program as individual clubs and a unified program. In the past, each program has functioned separately; they are working together this year! There have also been changes in leadership, new sponsors, and even a reworking of how meetings go.
Niyah Hayward, Godly Girls, FCA, and SOS officer, shared lots of great information about the new structure.
“SOS primarily meets in 109 this year to do a whole group Bible study. The following week Godly Girls and Bible Bois will meet to dig deeper and discuss what we learned at SOS. No worries though, you don’t have to attend SOS to be included!” Hayward explained. “This year Godly Girls and Bible Bois are meeting opposite to SOS! This means that we all get to come together every other week at SOS. Something else that is new is the organization of meetings.”
Anna Cox, FCA, and SOS officer, advised students interested in joining one or all of these clubs.
Cox said, “If they are interested in joining any of the clubs or have questions they should message any of the Instagram accounts of the clubs or email Bobby Upchurch or any of the officers of one of the clubs. To be in the clubs there are no requirements just bring yourself!
Bobby Upchurch, FCA, and SOS sponsor, is very impressed with the student officers this year.
Upchurch stated, “They are INCREDIBLE! We have a super committed leadership team that is passionate about telling their friends about Jesus and training up underclassmen to do this when they are gone.”
Brodey Williamson, FCA, Bible Bois, and SOS officer, agrees.
“I can see that there are a lot more people who are willing to lead and want to be a part of leadership teams.”
Some other SOS officers and students who are a part of these clubs gave reasons why students should join.
Freshman, Karli Reynolds stated, “It is a time of fellowship, learning about the Lord, fun times, and conversations that brighten your day and fills you with the spirit to spread the Lord’s love to others.”
Freshman Elaina Govero added, “In the Bible, Paul said ‘we were once darkness but now we are children of the light, so we should live like the light’, being involved in Christian Clubs is a way to live like the light (the light is Jesus).”
Junior Logan Lane said, “It’s a great community full of people who love Jesus and want to grow closer to him!”
Junior Leilani Richardson added, “SOS and all of our Christian clubs are great to continually grow together and work to follow Jesus! We want to see the school have the joy of the Lord!”
Senior Bryson Logan stated, “The Christian Clubs are a great space to surround yourself with people who want to pursue the Lord with their whole heart.”
To conclude, the Christian club members would love to see you at the next meeting and The new structure will look like this,
SOS: Boys and girls come together for a lesson prepared by SOS officers.
Bible Bois and Godly Girls Gathering: Girls and boys go to separate meetings for small group discussions every other week opposite to SOS.
FCA: Students are invited to come to school just a little bit earlier to fellowship with other
Christians in our school and do a whole group bible study at 7 a.m. on Tuesdays.
